J.O.Y. Group

Just Older Youth (J.O.Y) is the nickname for the Senior Adult Ministry at McEachern Memorial UMC. It is a ministry, for and with, all who have reached the status of “retiree”, even though they might not be completely retired. In addition the fellowship and service,  J.O.Y. participants enjoy one-day trips to destinations within the North Georgia area.

We gather the first Friday of every month, at 11:30 am in Lula Dobbs Hall. A great program is always provided and typically a service project that assists the group who comes to speak. We always support the Thanksgiving food baskets with Kroger gift cards from the change we collect from playing bingo, and many more. We love serving others. We have been involved in providing red wagons for Children’s Hospitals to providing twin beds for children with none. 

Lunches are Pot Luck so, don’t forget to bring your favorite dish to share with everyone else!

We also enjoy day trips Like to the mountains during the year or walking beautiful gardens or visiting other local historical locations, we always have fun as we travel and share a meal together.

Joyful Singers

Do you love to sing and are 55+? Do you love bringing joy to others? Do you want to share the love of Jesus to others in a very special way?

If so, the Joyful Singers is the group for you to check out! We gather on Mondays at 10:00 am in the Chapel.

We sing a variety of Christian and secular songs and serveral times a month visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities. (BTW – you don’t have to read music or have singing experience to join us).
