The Tanya Ghoreishi Scholarship Fund was established in 2008 by the Sanctuary Choir to aid and encourage church members to further their education. It was named after Tanya Ghoreishi, the previous Minister of Music and Worship. The choir wanted to honor her contribution to the ministry of McEachern Memorial UMC. The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who are headed to an accredited college or technical/vocational school. The seniors do not need to be pursuing a degree in arts to apply for or receive this scholarship. Its applicants are subject to the following requirements:
- The applicant must have been an active member of McEachern Memorial UMC for at least two years.
- The applicant must be in good standing with their current high school with regular attendance.
- The applicant must complete the application form, and if requested, be willing to appear before the selection committee.
The music committee reviews the applications and determines the recipients of the scholarship. Scholarship money is paid directly to the educational institution to be applied to the students’ tuition account.
